Presenter - George Boyd Jr., Environmental, Safety & Occupational Health Director

Mr. Boyd has held that position in the Pennsylvania Foundry Association for thirty years. For 17 years he managed the Loss Control operations of its 30 million dollar Workers Compensation program. Since that time he has done fee- for- service consulting to foundries in the areas of Environmental Compliance and Safety and Occupational Health training, including compliance auditing, employee training and interfacing with regulatory agencies.

In 1987 he received an OSHA Grant to write The Foundry Manager’s Guide to Safety and Health, and, under a subsequent Grant, prepared an expanded edition in 2003. In 2002 he was awarded a Grant to produce an Ergonomics Training series. Included in this ”How to do it” power point series is a Trainer’s module, a Worker training module in English and in Spanish and a series of foundry photographs showing ergonomic problems and simple solutions. He has done extensive ergonomic training and the 2009 Grant is to present day-long Train- the-Trainer seminars in 10 cities across the country for safety and H.R. managers and to train foundry workers in-house.

Mr. Boyd has a B.A. from Washington College, is an OSHA authorized trainer and is certified by Pa. as a Loss Control Consultant.
